Sejak zaman dahulu, sungai telah menjadi bagian penting dari kehidupan masyarakat, baik sebagai jalur perdagangan, transportasi, maupun aktivitas sosial.<br \/><br \/>Sejarah transportasi air di Banjarmasin tidak terlepas dari keberadaan Sungai Barito dan Sungai Martapura, yang sejak masa Kerajaan Banjar telah menjadi urat nadi perekonomian. Pembuatan jukung pertama kali berkembang di daerah <strong data-start=\"1116\" data-end=\"1126\">Alalak<\/strong>, yang hingga kini masih dikenal sebagai pusat perajin perahu tradisional.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1204\" data-end=\"1525\">Jukung dibuat dari kayu ulin, yang terkenal kuat dan tahan lama. Keunikan jukung terletak pada proses pembuatannya yang tidak menggunakan paku, melainkan pasak kayu dan lem alami. Selain itu, kehadiran <strong data-start=\"1823\" data-end=\"1836\">speedboat<\/strong> dan kapal wisata turut mendorong sektor pariwisata yang menjadikan sungai sebagai daya tarik utama kota.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1945\" data-end=\"2372\">Pemerintah Kota Banjarmasin terus berupaya mengembangkan dan merevitalisasi transportasi air, dengan membangun dermaga, menghidupkan kembali rute transportasi sungai, serta menggalakkan wisata berbasis sungai.
